Quick verdict
A compact jobsite workhorse that stayed square and never gave us a reason to replace it.
We used this style of DEWALT jobsite table saw for years. The fence worked well, the saw stayed square, and it handled the trim and sheet-good work we needed from a portable saw.
Where it earned its keep
The saw traveled through commercial and residential jobs with us for roughly the same multi-year period as the DWS780. We used it for ripping trim, cutting plywood and preparing parts for cabinets, counters, wall panels and finish work.
Fence and accuracy
We had no meaningful complaints about the fence in our use, and the saw stayed square. For wider sheet goods, the small footprint means you need to think about support rather than treating the little table like a cabinet saw. A larger work surface or auxiliary support can make sheet work much safer and more controllable.
Clean underneath after heavy use
One maintenance habit we did notice: after heavy cutting, sawdust can build up underneath. Blowing or vacuuming the lower area periodically keeps the mechanism from living in a pile of dust. That is not unique to this saw, but it is something we actually had to do.
Why compact mattered
A jobsite table saw is useful because it is portable enough to bring to the work instead of forcing every cut back to a shop. We paired ours with a rolling stand, which helped with setup and movement from one area to another.

We have seen experienced carpenters use table saws for specialized fitting and scribing work, but that should not be treated as a beginner technique. For normal use, follow the manufacturer setup, keep guards and safety devices in place where applicable, use the fence or appropriate jig, support long material and use push tools when your hands would otherwise approach the blade.
Would we buy it again?
There are larger saws with more table area and capacity, but this DEWALT earned our trust because it was easy to bring to the job, stayed accurate and handled the work we actually needed.
