Why this format worked for us

Our successful requests identified the person precisely, explained the citizenship purpose, supplied supporting documents where useful, asked for current fees and international payment instructions, and gave the office an easy way to contact us if something was missing.

What to include when it helps

  • Full name at birth and later names
  • Date and place of birth
  • Parents or spouse when useful for identification
  • Approximate years of residence for Meldekarte research
  • Your relationship to the person
  • Proof of identity or lineage if the office requests it
  • Your complete mailing address outside Germany

Do not send unnecessary sensitive documents just because a template mentions attachments. The authority should receive what it needs for the specific request.
